Tips of the Day
01
Reduce Strain
Neutral resting position reduces stress and strain in the forearm, wrist and hand.
02
Positioning
Neutral is when the forearm is rotated to a thumb ups position.
03
Decrease Pressure
In this neutral position there is no compression on nerves, tendons, muscles or ligaments.

Artistic Advantage

Hand Therapy consists of an extensive evaluation of musculoskeletal and nervous systems to determine what tissues are involved by an injury or being affected by a disease. We design an individualized treatment plan to restore function by using modalities, graded exercises, splinting, adaptive strategies and techniques to manage symptoms.
Let’s help you understand and learn what it will take to meet your goals.

Hand Therapy

Typical Diagnosis we see but are not exclusive to are finger and wrist fractures; tendon lacerations /ruptures; muscle strains; ligament laxity; autoimmune diseases, joint deformities; tendinitis; pain disorders; nerve compressions and dystonia.

Modalities are used to aid in tissue healing as the tissue progresses through its healing phases. We use ultrasound, electric stimulation, low level light therapy, paraffin, contrast baths, hot packs and cold packs as prescribed and when necessary.

Therapeutic Exercise and Functional Activity are used to resolve the problems caused by disuse, weakness and incoordination. We are continuously modifying activity so the patient can use their hands sooner than later without harming the healing tissue.

Splinting / Taping is both custom and prefabricated specific to the condition.

Soft Tissue Mobilization / Myofascial Release is used to release tight joints, glide soft tissue and circulate fluids to optimize muscle and joint function.

Symptom Management Techniques are discussed in the first visit to minimize reinjury and tissue aggravation. The tissue is working 24/7 to get better. We’ll teach you ways to mange the fluctuations in symptoms.
